Re: Hood Road Fence
As a result of the Hood
Road facility strategic importance to
Novopharm/Teva organization, as a global centre of excellence for penicillin
products, we find it necessary to install perimeter fence and access gates to
provide a safe and secure working environment. Moreover, several global auditors conducted surveys of our
Canadian sites and made recommendations that we increase the cycle of
protection which includes increased physical security effort such as access control, perimeter
protection, intrusion detection, security officers, and other security measures.
The Hood Road facility is the main facility in
the Teva organization with approval to produce penicillin products for the US.
Criminal attacks against this facility could jeopardize the
manufacturing operation, resulting in significant losses to the
organization. Even if another facility
was available, it would take a year to receive the approvals necessary to
manufacture product there. Consequently, by extending the "security
circle" to include the immediate plant site, including the parking lots,
loading and unloading areas, and the entrances to the site, it would make
criminal acts difficult as well as, meeting regulatory suggestions and
requirements.
Consequently, I am
requesting permission from the City of Markham
to install a 6 foot black ornamental fence around our facility at 575
Hood Road, Markham,
Ontario.
Your understanding and support is very much appreciated and needed.
Respectfully,
Norman Sinclair
