2. ECO ART PROJECT
DEBRIEFING
The Committee agreed that the 2005 Eco Art Project was an extremely
successful initiative, especially considering the tight timelines in place.
Members noted that the artists were very cooperative and brought a good deal of
enthusiasm to the event. Additional comments were made regarding the flyers for
the event in that they were very well put together, however, it was noted that further
distribution of advertising materials would have better promoted the project.
The Committee agreed that improved signage should be implemented for the

It was recommended
that any future Eco Art event be more closely associated with local schools and
that it continue alignment with the Communities in Bloom initiative, which would
be in the national competition in the summer of 2006. Ms. McIntyre noted that she would be emailing
the group to organize details with respect to the formation of a new Eco Art
Sub-Committee which would be responsible for organizing the 2006 event.
The Markham Public Art
Advisory Committee resolved that the Eco Art Event be repeated in 2006.
2. INITIAL
DISCUSSION REGARDING MPAAC GUIDELINES
Mr. V. Puri forwarded
his thanks to the Committee and informed members of his intent to withdraw from
the Markham Public Art Advisory Committee (MPAAC) effective immediately.
The Committee
discussed the mandate of MPAAC and noted that although the Eco Art event should
be repeated, the Committee should begin to develop guidelines and criteria used
to assess the installation of permanent public art pieces within the Town of
It was recommended
