ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Both of these new units will have diesel engines capable of operating on a blend of bio-diesel fuel.  To further reduce emissions, each unit will have a Tager fuel device installed prior to being put into service.  This device has been tested on other fleet units providing an average of additional emission reduction of 18%.

In addition, Fleet staff is currently evaluating the use of diesel fired on board engine/cab pre-heaters.  The pre-heater units are capable of reducing idling time required for equipment warm-up, resulting in additional fuel and emission savings.
