EXPLANATORY NOTE

 

BY-LAW NO. 2006-______

 

A By-law to designated the Thornhill Yonge Street Corridor as a Community Improvement Project Area

 


 

By-law 2006-______ designates the Thornhill Yonge Street Corridor Area as a Community Improvement Project Area under Section 28 of the Planning Act.

 

This designation permits the preparation and adoption of a Community Improvement Plan for the subject area.

 

 


A by-law to designate a Community Improvement Project Area

Section 28 of the Planning Act

WHEREAS Section 28 (2) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. P.13, as amended, provides that the Council of a Municipality may pass a by-law to designated the whole or any part of an area covered by the Municipality’s Official Plan as a Community Improvement Project Area, where the Official Plan in effect contains provisions relating to community improvement.

 

AND WHEREAS the Official Plan for the Town of Markham, as amended, contains provisions permitting the designation of a Community Improvement Project Area;

 

AND WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Markham by resolution dated April 11, 2006, has directed that the Thornhill Yonge Street Corridor, as outlined on the attached Schedule ‘A’, be designated as a Community Improvement Project Area.

 

NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MARKHMA HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

 

  1. That the Thornhill Yonge Street Corridor, as outlined on the attached Schedule ‘A’, is designated as a Community Improvement Project Area in accordance with the provisions of Subsection 28(2) of the Planning Act.
