Council Approved 2006 Action Plan – Summary of Results

 

  1. Enhance Internet Website Presence and Profiling. Staff enhanced the Economic Alliance section on the Town’s Economic Development website as part of the Economic Development website redesign program 2006.

  1. Host Meetings with Laval Chamber and Technopole staff.  On March 7-8 Céline Bilodeau of Laval Technople and Francine Cabral, Director General of the Laval Chamber of Commerce were introduced to Markham Council and staff, as well as staff at the Markham Board of Trade.  Meetings were held to introduce a new member of Laval Technopole staff to the Markham team and to formalize a partnership agreement between the Markham Board of Trade and Laval Chamber of Commerce.  The group also discussed and formalized plans for the 2006 business mission to Markham.

 

  1. April 4-5, 2005 Radio Frequency Identification Conference in Markham.  The event was featured on the Laval Technopole website, events calendar and other media sources.  No Laval companies attended the event

 

  1. Mayor’s Meeting in Laval.  Mayor Don Cousens did not travel to Laval in May/June with Economic Development staff as originally approved by Council

 

  1. Laval Business mission to Markham October 2006.

 

 

Not identified in the original council approved action plan was the formulation of a new partnership with the Bureau du Québec à Toronto.
