2. TASK FORCE TERMS OF REFERENCE
The Task Force reviewed draft Terms of Reference and suggested some minor
amendments. It was agreed that feedback be solicited from developers to ensure
that the list of potential issues to be tackle contains their most pressing
concerns. Subsequently, a shortlist of action items will be produced. Members
of the Developers’ Round Table will be approached to see if there is interest
in assisting on work groups tackling these items.
3. DISCUSSION
OF DRAFT ISSUES/OPPORTUNITIES
The Task Force considered a draft list of issues and opportunities distributed by staff. There was general discussion and staff agreed to produce a case study that would outline the chronology of a development application and its milestones.
It was noted that when applications require the input of external agencies such as the Ministry of Transportation or the Toronto Region Conservation Authority, there can often be associated delays that are outside the power of the Town to control.
4. DEVELOPERS’ ROUND TABLE AGENDA – MAY 2,
2007
There was brief discussion of this matter.
5. OPTIONS FOR ENGAGING DEVELOPERS
There was discussion surrounding how to ensure stakeholders are informed of the existence, and progress, of the Make it Happen Task Force. It was noted that most of the major developers and consultants do attend the Round Table meetings. It was suggested that smaller developers, and/or their consultants, might be reached through advertisements in trade publications or communications on the Town page in the local newspapers.
It was suggested that a press release might
be appropriate following finalization of the Terms of Reference.
ADJOURNMENT
The Make It Happen Task Force adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
