Subject: Illegal Signs

Dear Mr. Heath and Mr. Kanapathi

First, please review the attached photos.

My name is John T. Brazier and I am a resident of the Rouge Fairways and a member or the Rate Payers Association, since moving into the neigbourhood 4 years ago I have

watched community traffic signs and public property become covered with these signs, there are even signs at our park!

Hopefully, you will agree that this type of nonsense has to STOP.

This type of unscrupulous behaviour by these third rate businesses degragetes neighbourhoods and town property.

TOWN OF MARKHAM PROPERTY IS MANAGED WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS AND IS NOT A BLANK CANVASS FOR ADVERTISERS.

Further, these signs end up in landfill and challenge the environment.I have personally spoken to Town of Markham By-Law enforcement officers about this issue and was told they have to catch these individuals in the act of placing these illegal signs to take action. Is this true?

If this is the case, you can help by ammending the sign law to punish the beneficiaries of these ads. (The Business named on the Sign) With tough fines this practice should disappear and the businesses will look to legal outlets to advertise such as, newspapers and flyers. Many communities in Canada and the US have done this and have virtually eliminated illegal blanket signage.

On another note there are many New Home Development Signs that remain erect long after the new home development has been completed which make communities look

like they are perpetually under construction. Please use the By-Laws that currently exist and make these builder removes the signs.

If you care about the communities you serve please do something about these illegal advertising activities in the Town of Markham and free Markham from the scourge of these signs.

Yours Sincerely,

J.T. Brazier
