the current parking situations for

There was considerable discussion with respect to the Parking signs and whether to continue using the Heritage signs or the standard P parking sign. The Committee suggested removing the words “Public Parking” from the Heritage sign and also changing the colour of the wording.

That the Town of Markham Sign Shop craft the following adjustments to the current Heritage Parking sign: delete the words ‘Public Parking’, lower the wording ‘Markham Village’, lower the parking symbol and increase its size and change the colour of the lettering to black.

The Committee discussed different options and approaches to consider for
future interpretation of
· Interpretive signs on the buildings with historical information about the building and property
· Stand alone interpretive plaques on the sidewalk in front of the building
(Museum of the Street approach)
· Using the funding to undertake additional social history research on properties (searching historical newspapers) to make the interpretive experience more exciting
· Additional signs or information inside the building
· Pamphlets that would be distributed by the store owners and at Municipal locations such as Library’s, Museums, etc.
Heritage Staff offered to put together some interpretive options for consideration at the next meeting.
