Mr. K. Neumann, Senior Vice President of Environics Research, presented an overview of the Citizen Survey Results. Mr. Neumann noted the objectives of the survey and briefly outlined the methodology employed. It was noted that 1019 residents responded.
The Committee was provided with a breakdown of the results under a number of broad headings such as satisfaction with services, long term vision, and social values. Committee was also presented with a breakdown of the Town’s demographics.
It was noted that the sample size is statistically significant.
There was discussion about the analysis of this survey and the Click With Markham survey. Staff agreed to provide a similar presentation on the results of the Click survey.
Committee requested clarification on how the sample was selected and received confirmation that all Wards were represented. Committee suggested that carrying out more regular surveys will be beneficial. It was also stated that results may be different between longer term residents and new immigrants and that it may be useful to track the differences.
