SUBJECT: Purchase of Sponsorship – 2008 Table Sponsorship Approval

RECOMMENDATION:

That the process for purchase of sponsorships on behalf of Council be managed within the budget by the Mayor’s Office staff and charged to account 840-8415840.

Members of Council will be polled for their interest and participation. The cost per organization will not exceed $3000 as per the Council approved “Grants and Sponsorship Guidelines.”

And that Staff be authorized and directed to do all things necessary to give effect to this resolution.

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

The Town of Markham’s 2008 Table Sponsorship requirement is $35,000 in account 840-8415840.

Cost of tables for each event varies and in cases where there are insufficient Councillors/Senior Staff available to attend, a full table is not purchased.

BACKGROUND:

Over the past few years, the Town has sponsored a number of organizations via the purchase of tables for dinner events/galas. Table A, below, outlines the organizations that have been sponsored by the Town each year.
