Minutes Confirmed.

Update on North Toronto Cat Rescue Shelter

A Temporary-use application has been made on behalf of the North Toronto Cat Rescue by the Town for a property located on Langstaff Road.  Because the application was submitted by the Town, the rescue group was exempt from the fees and are permitted to stay at the location for a maximum of three years, at which time they can re-apply for an extension.  It is estimated that they will be operating from there for no more than 5-7 years.  The rescue organization is satisfied and acknowledges the terms of the agreement.

No further action required.

“No Kill Shelters”

Terri distributed an article on the “No Kill Shelter” philosophy.  The Committee expressed concerns with the licensing of cats, temperament testing, and mass euthanasia.

Research the idea of a one time licence fee for cats.

Promote Foster Home temperament testing.

Include the provision “no mass euthanasia” in the new Animal Services contract with the OSPCA.
