3.         2008 ENVIRONMENTAL ART EVENT

The following summary of the proposed 2008 Environmental Art Event was provided:

1)         The event will be called “Art on Ice” and the theme will be nature and family;

2)         The event will be held February 16-18 (Family Day Weekend) in the courtyard in front of the Art Gallery;  the opening of the event will occur on Saturday, February 16, 2008, between 4:00 -5:00 PM;

3)         The main attraction for the event will be ice sculptures - there will be 2 larger ice sculptures, and 6 demo ice sculptures (3 on Saturday and and 3 on Sunday).  1,000 building blocks will be provided to build with and a chipped ice wall will be created for children to paint on with water colour paints;

4)         The Committee plans to contract with Ice Sculpture Inc. to manage all aspects of the event (given the short timelines involved).  Tom Giantsopoulos, Chair, will work with Ice Sculpture Inc. to establish a more detailed proposal (which should be available by the end of the week).

5)         There will be an ice bar where hot chocolate will be served (possibly in ice glasses);

6)         There may be ice wine and hors d’oeuvres provided inside the Gallery (depending on local business sponsorship);

7)         Event promotion will be thorough media relations/print;

8)         The Committee is hoping to obtain a sponsor for the creation of funny winter hats with an embroidered logo “Art on Ice”;
