Meeting called to order @ 6:05pm.

No deputations.

Item 1: Approval of minutes

Motion to approve UBIA minutes of 092408. Moved by Sylvia, seconded by Angela. Carried

Item 2: Chairman’s update - received & discussed

IN CAMERA ISSUE DISCUSSED - RE: TOWN OF MARKHAM BY LAWS DEPT.

As per discussions in camera, Motion: That the UBIA cover all legal expenses regarding this matter.

Moved by Sharon, seconded by Sylvia. Carried unanimously.

Speed bumps on Carlton - committee public in November

Unionville Square - Sharon noted project is going ahead regardless of Town objections. It was noted that they have not come to the UBIA nor do they have an application in with the Town of Markham. It was noted that this project includes paid parking, which the UBIA has long opposed.

New stores - Tabi, Blossom Lounge, Art Gallery @ Stiver House (on hold) - increase in retail is good and is a good reflection on UBIA’s marketing efforts over the years.

Goodbye & Thanks - Stiver House - tradition on Main Street for almost 30 years. Susan , Don & brother active in UBIA

Remembrance Day - UBIA wreath layer is Sylvia Morris. Thanks to Unionville Trading Post for organizing this for last several years.

Item 3: COMMITTEES update - received & discussed

Advertising - econ & sun, coop spots - radio & print, sign on kennedy, FAM media & hotel tour coming

Festivals - little Oktoberfest, thanksgiving sidewalk sale, halloween on main, moonlight madness, olde tyme Christmas

Music - done for season - ended Oktoberfest

Finance - auditor bill increase

Streetscape - candy canes, garland, white lights, LED - please turn on lights

Heritage - old fashioned Christmas

Wedding Show 2009? - agreed March is best time
