Project Summary: Accessibility Retrofit Program

A series of repairs and upgrades to existing facilities will be made to ensure that Markham facilities are fully physically accessible to all members of the community.  Renovations will include work to the exterior environment, interior environment, building systems, controls and communications, and special facilities, spaces and environments.

 

A detailed audit of various Markham facilities has been completed.  The audits are fully comprehensive documents that outline hundreds of items in each facility that is in need of attention in order to ensure total physical accessibility is achieved.

 

Costs:

The project budgets are broken down in considerable detail in each audit report.  No accessibility upgrades at any of the facilities identified below have been budgeted at this time.  At a high level, total costs for accessibility upgrades are as follows:

Timeline:  All audits have been completed.  Each project is ready to go at this time.

 

Benefits:  By making these facility improvements, each of the fore mentioned facilities could then be enjoyed and utilized by all members of the community regardless of physical ability.
