Eco-Media Bins

Christy provided an update on the Eco-Media education initiative.  Corporate Communications is in the process of creating the posters for the bins.  The posters will be displayed on 10 out of 20 bins and will stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter your pets.  Circulation dates are tentatively scheduled for late spring to early summer.

No further action required.

 

Calendar Partnership

The Committee has decided not to partner with the Town’s Corporate Communications Department.  The Committee will complete their own calendar with their own resources.

No further action required.

 

2010 “We Love our Pets” Calendar

Bill Wiles was in attendance to review the Town’s purchasing requirements.  Quotes must be obtained by three suppliers for larger tasks needed for the calendar, ie. Graphic design and Printing.

Committee adopted the following resolution:

“That staff be authorized to spend up to *$5,000 on behalf of the Animal Care Committee to produce a Calendar to be used to promote responsible pet ownership; and that the funds be taken from account number 031 2220039 (Animal Care fundraising account)”.

Next Steps include:

1. Obtain quotes and requirements for printer and graphic designer in order to proceed with posters, etc.

2. Draft a calendar budget to be approved by Council at March 23rd, 2009 General Committee Meeting

3.  Contact neighbouring municipalities and inquire about their submission process.

New Business

Christy advised the Committee that the Museum would like to remove the Pet Fair from Applefest, but replace it with a “Wolfstock” type event commencing in 2010.

Caroline was in contact with Rob Goddard, Helping Homeless Pets, who asked if the Committee would be interested in soliciting donations at the LCBO in turn for half of the profits.

Bob has been preparing an adoption awareness newspaper campaign on behalf of the Committee.  Councillor Burke advised that Susan McGrath has put together an entire Communications Plan for all of Animal Services and therefore Bob can work with Susan.

Further details and discussion to follow, but Committee agreed to participate.

 

Members expressed interest and agreed to participate.
