The Markham Environmental Advisory Committee was called to order at 6:15 PM with Mr. Philip Ling presiding as Chair.

4. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE
MINUTES
A. COMMITTEE INITIATIVES FOR 2009/10
Committee members discussed a number of potential initiatives, including:
- Hosting an Earth Day event in April
- Presenting Pesticide workshops

Holding regular events at Markville Mall, perhaps once
per month or once per quarter, to provide information about Town of
- The possibility of partnering with the Unionville BIA to host a combined event with an environmental focus with the Unionville Walking/Pedestrian Day – this could be a large event, with entertainment including a “green” fashion show, involving local businesses, helping them identify their “green” products and practices or identify new ones which might help change behaviour, providing information on available resources such as corn cups, biodegradable products et al

Coordinating events with Town of
Chris Sauer will check with local contacts to determine who should be contacted at the Unionville BIA; Philip Ling and Tom Rado will follow up and make contact to propose partnering for a future event.

NEW BUSINESS
A. TOUR
Chair Philip Ling conducted a tour of, and explained the workings of, his electric and solar hot water installations.
B. MILNE DAM CONSERVATION AREA
Chair Philip Ling reported on discussions of the Milne Park Working Group in considering options for a pathway through the park.
