Shelter Update

Susan reported that a staff member (Rick Dominico) has been contacted to prepare a survey for the feasibility study.

Advise Committee with an update at its next meeting following preliminary discussions with Rick.

It was also suggested that if Rick was unavailable, contact marketing university students who need to surveys in order to graduate.

Entire Committee

Marketing Team Report

The advertising spots are almost full, but need to work on more photo submissions.

Contact local charities for free advertising space.

Entire Committee

Production Team Report

Janet distributed a tracking sheet for the calendar entries.

Nothing further to report.

AMCTO Information

Christy advised the Committee that the AMCTO has sent a memo to all municipalities requesting that they include animals in their Emergency Plans.  The Committee should receive the memo as information only.

Susan advised the Committee that she is currently working on this for the Town.  Further details to follow.

New Business

Christy advised that the posters are ready and will be placed on the Eco-media bins in the next two weeks.

Bob advised that no one will sponsor the animal advertisement of the week.  The newspaper charges $375 per week for each ad, but would give it to the Committee for $150.00.  Committee members agreed this was far too expensive.

No further action required.

Continue to research other options for the promotion of adoption.

Next Meeting:

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 5:30pm, Ontario Room

Denielle advised the Committee that her organization has been attending Old Kennedy and Steeles Avenue to assist with a feral cat colony.  It has become a dumping ground for household pets and her organization can not keep up with the vet bills.  She has asked the Committee to assist her financially.

Christy advised the committee that a protocol for such requests should be drafted before any money is distributed to any charities.
