The Public Information Meeting convened at 8:07 p.m. with Mayor F. Scarpitti in the Chair. 

 

 

1.         PROPOSED 2010 WATER/WASTEWATER RATES (5.3 & 7.0)

 

Notices for the October 27, 2009 Public Information Meeting regarding the Proposed 2010 Water/Wastewater Rates were published on the Markham Page on October 15 and 22, 2009, and posted on the website for the Town of Markham.

 

Mr. Peter Loukes, Director of Operations provided some background information regarding roles and responsibilities of the Town of Markham Waterworks, including: water distribution, infrastructure maintenance and surcharge, and requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

 

Mr. Joel Lustig, Director of Finance and Client Services provided information with respect to the Proposed 2010 Water/Wastewater Rates for the Town of Markham, including:

- 2009 Water/Wastewater Rates

- Comparative Water/Wastewater Rates

- Region of York 2010 Proposed Water/Wastewater Rates

- 2009 Water/Wastewater Reserve Study Update

- Proposed 2010 Water/Wastewater Rates

- Comparative 2009 & 2010 Water/Wastewater Rates

- Impact to residents and top 10 Institutional, Commercial, Industrial (ICI) \Customers.

- Next steps.

That the presentations of Mr. Peter Loukes, Director of Operations and Mr. Joel Lustig, Director of Finance and Client Services regarding the Proposed 2010 Water/Wastewater Rates be received; and,

 

That staff report back to the November 9, 2009 General Committee incorporating the information presented at the Public Information Meeting held on October 27, 2009.
