involving the Wykland Estates subdivision in Cornell,
for a proposed daycare/pre-school at 50 Anderson Avenue
(N/E corner of Hwy. 48 & Bur Oak Avenue) and for Sunrise Montessori school at 180 Amber Street (14th and
Denison).
RECOMMENDATION
That Public
Meetings be scheduled for June 1, 2010 for
the subdivision and rezoning applications by Wykland
Estates to permit a residential subdivision in Cornell, west
of Cornell Centre Blvd., south of 16th Avenue, and for the rezoning application by Kimberly
Balouchi to permit a daycare/pre-school at 50
Anderson Avenue at the northeast corner of Hwy. 48 & Bur Oak Avenue; and
That a Public Meeting be scheduled for June 15, 2010
for the rezoning application
by Sunrise Montessori to permit a Montessori
school at 180 Amber Street (14th and Denison).
BACKGROUND
The purpose of
this memo is to seek authorization to hold statutory Public Meetings for three
applications involving rezoning and/or subdivision approval prior to the
preliminary report on these applications being prepared.
Staff is currently scheduling Public Meetings for June 1st
and June 15th, the last two dates for Public Meetings prior to the
summer break. To date only one non
controversial item involving an amendment to the Municipal Services By-law has
been scheduled for the June 1st meeting whereas five items are
already known for the June 15th meeting and that number could
increase.
Staff is seeking to move two of the five known items from
June 15th to June 1st in order to more or less balance
the number of items on each of the two dates.
The last date for mailing the notice for the meeting on June 1st
is Wednesday May 12th. The
two items proposed to be moved to June 1st include subdivision and
rezoning applications by Wykland Estates in Cornell to
permit a residential subdivision, west of Cornell Centre
Blvd., south of 16th Avenue,
as well as a rezoning application by Kimberly
Balouchi to permit a daycare /pre-school at 50 Anderson Avenue located at the
northeast corner of Highway 48 and Bur Oak Avenue. Preliminary / information reports on both
these items will be brought forward to Committee at the Development Services
Committee meeting of either May 18th or June 1st.
In addition, staff is also seeking authorization to hold a statutory
Public Meeting on June 15th for the rezoning application by Sunrise
Montessori to permit a Montessori school at 180 Amber Street (14th
and Denison). There is insufficient time
to seek authorization to hold a Public Meeting for this item prior to the
summer break through the normal process.
An information report for this application will be available for the
Development Services Committee meeting of June 15th.
