Markham Environmental Sustainability Fund –

Suggested Recommendations

 

(a)        COMMUNITY APPLICATIONS

 

i.                     Little Rouge Creek Rehabilitation Program

 

That the Ontario Streams application for a stream rehabilitation project, be approved, for $5,000 and that recognition for funding support be recognized on their website.

 

 

ii.                   Ecological Action Conference

 

That this proposal be approved in an amount not to exceed $10,000, following review and approval of a revised detailed budget by Communications staff and the Environmental Issues Committee and that YENYR consult with the Manager, Environmental Leadership and Communications in the development of the conference and program.

 

iii.                  Ellen Fairclough Public School 

 

That the application by Ellen Fairclough Public School,  for an outdoor classroom, be approved for $5,000 in funding subject to the review and approval of tree species by Parks Staff. 

 

 

iv.                 Unionville Meadows Public School

 

That the application by Unionville Meadows Public School for $3,572 for a garden project be approved, conditional on: species selection for the garden and field guide publication being reviewed by Town Parks staff; that the Markham Environmental Sustainability Fund contribution be recognized in the field guide publication and through newsletters, the school website, etc.

 

(b)        STAFF APPLICATIONS

 

i.                     Legacy Community Garden

 

That funding in the amount of $2,500 be awarded to Vicky McGrath, Director of the Sustainability Office, for the Community Garden pilot project provided that the funds not be released by the Sustainability Office to Legacy Organic Garden until all necessary licencing, approvals and guidelines requirement are obtained/met.
